The brief for the visitor pavilion at TRC’s Hollard Gardens called for a centrepiece and gateway to the garden’s interesting and diverse horticultural and botanical collection by creating a purpose built visitor interpretation and function centre built on the site of Bernie and Rose Hollard’s House.

The result is a pavilion which nestles into the surrounding landscape, blurring the boundaries and providing unnoticeable transitions between enclosed spaces and the outside through a series of covered outdoor spaces.

Pocket vistas are captured in different directions, highlighting specific moments in the surrounding environment and the use of natural weathered materials enhances and aids the built fabric in melting into its landscape.
