This information centre is Ohakune’s iconic showpiece, situated on a site where the Beech forest meets the town.

The trunk-like colonnade, ornamental leaf forms and the façade are a transparent veil for the dynamic pavilion that provides information by day and a glowing display by night.

This is a contemporary, captivating building that enables Ohakune to communicate the richness of its local events, activities and many attractions.

The fibreglass cone that appears to burst through the roof and focus light and attention on the topographical model within gives the building presence in the busy streetscape.

Ohakune’s visitor information pavilion is an engaging building that is practical, memorable and environmentally sound.
