"A place providing enormous community wellness benefit."

An urban design project for all people and visitors of Stratford.

The Stratford District council mooted the concept of a children’s bike park that was included in the 2018-2028 Long Term Plan. BOON were engaged to help with the concept and feasibility study of the project to enable funding application’s for the community project. The SDC was successful in receiving a Provincial Growth Fund grant of $2million in 2020. This meant the project could proceed to delivery stages in the first 3 years of the long term plan and also be delivered without any input from ratepayers.

This important community project is located at the established Victoria Park, behind an existing playground. The park includes a children’s cycle track for kids to learn and gain bicycle confidence, a pump track, a half basketball court and a community BBQ pavilion.

The beautiful concrete artwork designed by Wharehoka Smith tells a story that centers around the importance of whānau and support. One that works together to share and care for people and places in the district.

The success of this project can be seen through the positive community support and smiles on kids faces while using the facilities.
