Tactile building materials feature throughout this funky beach-side family home.

Through innovative design, the variable time/cost associated with building has been well controlled, resulting in reduction of this home's construction period and providing cost savings to the client.

This home uses a modular system of pre-finished, off-site fabricated PLT panels in the ceiling/roof structure as well as the second story floor structure. The timber panels achieve high spans, have great thermal qualities, and reduce scaffolding costs due to quick and efficient installation. Structural stability of this engineered timber system is achieved through parallel lamination and finger jointing.

Utilizing this natural engineered timber system combined with considered interior finishes & fittings, means this home exudes warmth and texture. Each space in the home is uniquely innovative and highly functional. Floor to ceiling north facing glazing with a timber screen façade to the upper level, filters natural light and fresh air into the home. The polished concrete floor provides added thermal properties to this well considered modular and sustainable home.
