Boon House

Location

New Plymouth

Capitlising on its expansive hillside aspect this home nestles in to its' site.

Maximising the sweeping views across the valley to the mountain the home features timber throughout with connection to the native surrounds.

Specifically designed for the site, this functional home uses clever modular timber technologies to enhance its’ character. Off-site production of pre-finished parallel laminated timber panels from Woodspan form the mid-floor and roof of this home. Constructed from sustainable New Zealand grown timber that is locally fabricated gives this home a well considered environmental edge. The off site fabrication means off cuts are recycled and reused resulting in less waste onsite. It also utilises it’s north-west facing glazing for natural heating and ventilation. An asymmetrical pitched roof forms shape that rolls with the landscape while adding to the homes sense of space in the expansive surrounds.
