Double gable ends form the focal point of this contemporary new home on the outskirts of New Plymouth.

The brief called for an industrial barn style home, with the ability for multiple generations of family to live comfortably together.

The contemporary shape of the home is formed through two offset, elongated double gable end structures and connected through a central entry hallway space that joins the two living wings. The Eastern structure houses triple car garage, a self-contained unit to the rear, two bedrooms + a rumpus to the north and a spacious mezzanine. The western structure encompasses the master suite with ensuite and walk-in robe, main kitchen, living, and dining + it’s own mezzanine that acts as a snug or retreat from the open plan living area.

The look and feel of the home were modelled off an industrial barn or farm house concept, but with contemporary flair. The home features specialized offsite fabrication techniques in its construction methods, including glulam portals, and woodspan PLT panels on the mezzanine mid-floors and the roof structure.
